Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council (MJEC) is an umbrella organization for the 20+
engineering organizations and engineering educational institutions in the Memphis area. MJEC
has a membership of all members of these local chapters/sections and is governed by a Board
of Directors, comprised of two representatives from each participating organization.
Over the years, MJEC has done many things, including an annual Christmas Social, Engineers
Day at the Mall, a calendar of engineering society events, an Outstanding Engineering Student
Contest, and a Speakers Bureau, but currently the main functions are related to Engineers
Week activities.
MJEC assists in coordination of Engineers Week by providing communication among
engineering organizations. It is responsible for the following four parts of Engineers Week:

- Engineers Week Student Contest, held the Saturday before official E-Week
- Featured Engineer/Featured Surveyor Awards, presented during the E-Week Kickoff
Luncheon - Featured Engineering/Engineering Technology Student Awards, presented during the
Engineers Week Banquet - MJEC Award of Excellence, presented during the E-Week Kickoff Luncheon
